American Muscle on the Murray has began with success once again, this time in its second year, an event in its infancy still, but has brought together like minded enthusiasts from Victoria, Sydney and the ACT with just on 50 cars on display this morning to help raise money for the local SES, see below for a few pictures.

If anyone has pics from the SAU Texhkhana, can you please email some to me?

Well this weekend is one of the busiest before the winter chill really starts to be felt in Canberra and the region.

If you are a fan of American Muscle cars and around Albury, come check out American Muscle on the Murray, Based out of the Siesta Resort, there is a small display at Hovell Tree Park on Saturday morning, before we all depart for a nice cruise around the region. I’ll be there in a friends 79 Z28 Camaro.

Saturday is the SAU Texikhana out at Sutton Driver Training centre, along with the MG Car Club MotorKhana on Sunday.

Classic Holdens your thing? Head out to Tuggeranong on Sunday opposite Bunnings for the EH-EJ Car Club display, which is proudly supported by the guys at Shannons Insurance.

Hopefully a relaxing few weeks ahead for Racing Ready, before a fun weekend away rallying at the end of the month.

Casual cruise to Narooma this saturday should be nice and an opportunity to catch up with a few of racing Ready’s friends!

May 18-20 sees a weekend of activity about the place. In Canberra, there is the EH – EJ show in Tuggeranong, and the MG Car Club Motorkhana and the SAU Texikhana. Down in Albury that weekend is where I will be heading to American Muscle on the Murray, driving my friends 79 Z28 Camaro!

Last weekend was the Annual Drive back in time in Beechworth Vic, with over 190 vehicles lining the main street for a great day out! .. couple of pictures below

Well after a very impressive charge towards the end of Leg two yesterday, the Racing Ready and Mr Brakes Ballarat Sponsored 89 Porsche 944 S2 had a day we’d rather forget at the beginning of Leg 3.

Headed out to the first TS17- Mole Creek, and about 3km into the stage, Brian Downshifted into 3rd for a 6 Left call, and we heard a crack, … and then nothing, … no forward drive at all, and had to pull over and get the OK board out for the oncoming competitors.

We got towed out, and loaded into the Recovery Bus and followed the stages until the lunch break. .. Many thanks to the Recovery Bus for having BEER!!!!!

We flat towed the car to Lamb Automotive in Devonport (Great bunch of guys, thank you) and determined that the centre of the clutch plate had pulled out/separated from the clutch plate, leaving us with no drive.

With no possibility of getting the 944 onto the ferry tonite, we were blessed with the kindness of Chas Kelly Transport to store the car for us while we headed to Strahan, and off to Hobart tomorrow.

TT12 has been fun and a great experience, .. and who knows, I may well be back next year!

Incar from the Sideling yesterday. … More to come when I get home

Targa Tas – Leg Two

Ahhhh, just got back from the finish of Leg Two of Targa Tas, … and holy shit, what a fun day.

We woke to ominous clouds above, looking like they were threatening ample amounts of rain, and true to Tasmanian form, the heavens opened up during the day to give us wet and intermediate condition stages all day long.

Long transport out to Rossarden and Elephant Pass stages, both were wet, but thankfully Brian and I were in the zone from the day before and went out belting the little porsches, with the Yokahama’s performing well in the wet conditions. Managed to peg back some time against some of our friends, and were deep into the 2nd stage of the day when we approached a rollover incident by a Mustang. We couldnt see any display boards so we stopped to render assistance, but it appeared to be all under control, we jumped in, went forward a little to the SOS point and advised them, and continued on with the stage, … dropping about 1min, which we hope the CRO’s will amend for us.

After the lunch break there were more awesome stages on the East coast, with Brian becoming more confident in how to drive the car again, and with me calling the notes, eventually catching cars that started 30 seconds in front of us by the end of the stages.

The Sideling was brilliant, although a little wet, and with fog on top of the hill, and 200m visibility at best, we werent too sure how fast to attack the straights up the top, even with notes.

Finished the day off with a street stage in Longford, which we managed to clean the base time, and surprising to us, did so in a very fast time.

Currently sitting 16th in Early Modern, .. but with the time adjustment we should pick up a few more

Tomorrow its off to the legendary Cethana & Hellyer Gorge stages .. which could also be wet!
