How the horse racing fantasy draft works

01

Register and pick daily

Register on Saturday or Sunday, Sydney time, for the following Monday to Sunday week. Each day one late Australian race is designated automatically: the latest supported race at or after 16:00 Sydney. You choose one runner and can change it before the original scheduled start. If no supported race exists that day, there is no pick.

02

Scoring at the starting price

Base points are 10 for first, 5 for second and 3 for third, multiplied by your horse's official decimal win starting price. A 2.00 winner scores 20; a 4.00 runner finishing second also scores 20. Place odds are never used. Other finishes, scratchings and abandoned races score 0, with no fallback odds.

03

Top 3 win Draftstars entry tickets

Top 3 players each win an entry ticket to a major Draftstars horse-racing fantasy draft, purchased by RacingReady. The reward is a contest entry, not cash. Availability, eligibility and transfer conditions are subject to provider confirmation, and ties across third place await an admin decision.

04

Verification

An admin verifies each result and starting price from an official source, never from members' own logs. Scores stay provisional until checked. Historical weeks that were frozen with cash awards keep their original amounts.

A little strategy

  • Seven picks a week. Missing a day is points you cannot get back.
  • The starting price multiplier rewards value: a 12.00 third earns 36, more than a 2.50 winner at 25.
  • Recheck your picks close to the jump. Late scratchings score zero, so switch before the original start.
  • Use the Predictor for a second opinion on form, then make the call yourself.

An original RacingReady competition with no entry fee, governed by RacingReady's own rules. No affiliation with or sponsorship by Draftstars or any wagering operator is implied. Points have no monetary value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it cost anything to enter?

No. When entry opens, eligible members aged 18+ in enabled Australian locations can register free, without VIP. Entry is currently closed pending the owner's legal review, eligible-location confirmation and confirmation of reward ticket terms.

How do I register for a week?

Register on Saturday or Sunday, Sydney time, for the following Monday to Sunday week. New rules apply from the week starting 9 November 2026.

Where do I make my picks?

Sign in and open Daily picks in your member dashboard. Registration, reminders and your Monday to Sunday picks are all there; this page shows the rules and leaderboard.

Which race do I pick in each day?

One late Australian race is designated automatically each day: the latest supported race starting at or after 16:00 Sydney time. If no supported race is available, that day has no designated race.

Can I change my selection?

Yes. You pick one runner per day and can change it as often as you like before the race's original scheduled start. After that it locks.

How are points scored?

Base points are 10 for first, 5 for second and 3 for third, multiplied by that horse's official decimal win starting price. A winner at 2.00 scores 10 x 2 = 20; a second placegetter at 4.00 scores 5 x 4 = 20. Place odds are never used.

What about scratchings, abandoned races or a missing starting price?

Other finishes, scratched runners and abandoned races score 0. There is no arbitrary fallback odds value; an admin verifies the official result and starting price from an official source.

What are the weekly rewards?

Top 3 players each win an entry ticket to a major Draftstars horse-racing fantasy draft, purchased by RacingReady. It is a contest entry, not cash and not a prize payment. Ticket availability, eligibility and transfer conditions are subject to provider confirmation.

What happens with ties around third place?

Ties across the top three boundary are reviewed and decided by an admin. Tickets are never issued automatically.

Will I get reminders?

When you join you can opt in to an email one hour before each daily race. You can turn it off any time on the Daily picks page in your dashboard.

Who sets the competition rules?

RacingReady organises this competition and sets its entry and scoring rules. Draftstars entry tickets are the rewards, not the rules for this competition. No affiliation with or sponsorship by Draftstars or any wagering operator is implied.
